Daniel BersteinCombinatorics and Algebraic Geometry of Low Rank Matrix Completion
In many applications, one has a dataset expressed as a matrix where only some of the entries are known. The low rank matrix completion problem is to solve for these missing entries given that the matrix has some low rank r. I will explain how this problem can be viewed from an algebraic geometry perspective and discuss some combinatorics problems that ensue.
