UNDERGRADUATE INFO
Carey Mumford Scholarship

Professor Carey Mumford was a loyal and dedicated member of the Department for some 41 years.  He retired in 1969 after serving the Department and the University in many different ways; for example, he was Assistant Dean for the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences from 1960 to 1963 and also served for ten years as Chairman of both the University Scheduling Committee and Traffic Committee.  He was also a prominent member of the Pullen Memorial Baptist Church.  After his death in 1970, the Mumford family and others generously established an award in his name.  It is given to an outstanding mathematics student -- sophomore, junior or senior, preferably one who demonstrates financial need.
