Professor Jack Levine joined NC State in 1935. Until 1995, he remained active in teaching classes without pay and was quite active in his research. His research endeavors included cryptography, tensors and mathematical physics. His research record comprises more than 100 publications. Dr. Levine was also named a NC State Outstanding Teacher in 1970, which speaks for the high quality of his instruction. The award, bearing his name, was established by Jack himself and by the generous contributions of others. It is awarded to that students at NC State who has the best performance on the Putnam Competition.
