COURSES AND HELP
Credit for Math Classes Taken Elsewhere
Advanced Placement Credit Transferring Credit from Another University

A number of mathematics courses at community colleges and other universities are automatically approved for credit at NC State. Other mathematics courses taken elsewhere must be approved by the Mathematics Department for credit at NC State.

If you are considering taking a mathematics course elsewhere that is not automatically approved for credit at NC State:

  1. Ask your academic advisor if the course will be acceptable in your curriculum.
  2. Ask the Mathematics Department Transfer Officer if the course will be approved for credit at NC State.

If you have taken a mathematics course elsewhere:

  1. Have an official copy of your transcript sent to the NC State Department of Registration and Records.
  2. After the transcript has been processed, the course should appear on your Automated Degree Audit.
  3. Check for mistakes. If the course is not listed or is incorrectly or incompletely listed, collect course materials (e.g., syllabus and final exam) and contact the Mathematics Department's Transfer Officer.
Official NC State policy regarding transfer of credits.

If you have questions, contact the Mathematics Department Transfer Officer.
