Introduction

The program leading to a BS in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Financial Mathematics is a refinement of the Applied Mathematics degree. This program is primarily designed to prepare students for careers in financial mathematics, actuarial science, and portfolio management. Graduates will be prepared for graduate study in mathematics or financial mathematics. Students automatically earn a minor in Statistics, and have the option to pursue a minor in Economics.

Students are invited to apply for admission to this program after establishing academic excellence at NCSU. Performance in courses such as MA 225, 341, 405, and possibly 407 and 425 will be considered. Expectations include a Total GPA and a Math GPA of 3.5 or greater. Recommendations from faculty may also be considered.

Earning This Degree

To earn a BS in Mathematics at NC State, students must satisfy the Degree Requirements .
