Most students build a semester schedules with 14 to 18 credit hours of courses and labs. To graduate in four years, you will need to average a little more than 15 hours per semester. More about that later.

Here is an example of a good schedule for a first semester freshman. Notice that each item on the list is a clickable link that will answer questions about that category.

First Semester Freshman Year (suggested)
Area
Credit Hours
Math 4
Chemistry or Economics 3
English 4 (placement)
PAMS 100 & PAMS 100L 1
Humanities & Social Sciences ?

Especially good for freshmen are the First Year Inquiry courses, designated with a 'Q'. Briefly, Q-sections

  • are small
  • contain information that helps with study skills and transition from high school to college
  • are taught by dedicated specially-trained teachers

Another approach is to look at the requirements for the BS in Mathematics and select courses from the Science Electives.

With Chemistry/Economics, Math, PMS100, and possibly English, you should have between 9 and 13 hours. You will need one to three more courses to complete your schedule. There are a couple ways to find courses. One is to look at your degree requirements (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics) another is to fill admissions deficiencies in Foreign Languages, a third is to explore possibilities
