Travel to professional conferences and to visit other research institutions is an important part of the professional development of a graduate student. Support for graduate student travel comes from many sources. Many students on RAs receive travel support from the grant funding the RA. Many conferences provide support for attending students who are participating. Be sure to check the conference website and apply. These funds are often easy to get.
In addition the department has limited funds for more advanced students to attend conferences. Use reimbursement forms for applying for departmental supported travel.
