The NC State Department of Mathematics is committed to a diverse graduate student body. The department has a record of training students from all ethnic and racial groups for successful careers in Academia and Industry. For example, since 2000, 11 African-Americans (8 of them female) have finished their Ph.D.s in mathematics at NC State University (at least 1 each year). In addition, there are currently 10 African American Ph.D. students in the Department of Mathematics and 5 of these have already passed their Ph.D. qualifying examinations.
The NC State Department of Mathematics also has a
diverse faculty including 4 African American Professors (Chukwu,
Fauntleroy, Medhin,
Semazzi).
A number of special programs are available for minority
students. Interested students can contact the Graduate
Program Director, the Graduate
Program Administrator or Professor
Medhin. Before coming to NC State, Professor Medhin
taught for several years at Clark Atlanta University and is familiar
with what is involved in the transition to NC State.
We all love talking about our exciting programs. Visits
to campus are welcome at any time.
Interested students are also encouraged to visit NC State during Visit NC State day . This university wide program supports student visits to NC State. |
