Requirements*

Strong undergraduate mathematics background, including Calculus (NCSU MA 141/241/242), Differential Equations (MA 341 and 401), and Linear Algebra (MA 405), with a preference for students that also took Analysis I & II (MA 425/426).

GPA of at least 3.0 (out of 4.0) in the sciences required; overall GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred.

GRE General Test is required. GRE Math Subject Test scores are recommended**. Scores must be less than 5 years old. (GRE Codes; Institution 5496, Dept. 0703)

TOEFL/IELT: The MFM program follows NCSU guidelines for the TOEFL and IELT. Internet based test standards are in the Graduate Handbook , and the paper and computer-based test standards are located here. (TOEFL Codes; School 5496, Dept. 72)

Three recommendation letters must be part of a completed application.

A Personal Statement can be used to explain your motivation, and to provide some guidance understanding your application materials.

**Most successful applicants have GRE scores of 700 or higher on the Quantitative section, 500 or higher on the Verbal section, and 4.0 or higher on the Analytical Writing test preferred. GMAT scores cannot be substituted for the GRE.
