No member of PTC will serve more than three consecutive years.
B. During the spring semester the PTC evaluates the activity reports, teaching evaluations, and the current resume of each assistant and associate professor. The PTC report is presented to the Department Voting Faculty (DVF) http://www.ncsu.edu/ncsu/provost/academic_affairs/rpt/ before the end of the spring semester.
C. Nominations for non-mandatory promotion may be made by the PTC, DVF, or by self-selection. The DVF deliberates, votes, and provides an assessment and recommendation to the department head and each nominee. Nominees should consult with the Department Head before deciding to continue the promotion process.
D. The Department Head works with each faculty member (except for Adjuncts) that has been selected for candidacy for promotion, and their research/teaching mentors, to develop a list of external reviewers in compliance with University guidelines. By the end of June the Department Head requests reviews from the chosen list of external reviewers for inclusion in the dossier.
