Using mini_submit

mini_submit is part of the eGrader package of software developed in the Department of Mathematics for the Maple program. When you submit a file to mini_submit eGrader will grade your paper and assign a grade to each problem, but will not tell you what you have done wrong in a problem. That part is for you to figure out!!

mini_submit will present a table on your homework web page with the score for each problem for each mini_submit submission. Please use mini_submit often to improve your score on your Maple homework. The number of allowed submissions will vary from Homework to Homework, so the number of allowed mini_submit submissions is listed on the web page for each assignment.

Your grade for each Homework assignment will be the HIGHEST Grade you receive at mini_submit for that assignment.
Students will NOT submit any files to submit.ncsu.edu as in past semesters. All grading will be handled by mini_submit.

Your grade for each Homework assignment will be the HIGHEST Grade you receive at mini_submit for that assignment.

Here are some Guidelines in using Mini-submit:

• mini_submit is accessible on your homework webpage in the third column from the left.

• To use mini_submit click the link "mini_submit" in your browser window and you will be sent to a page where you can upload your file for instant grading. On that page click the "Browse" button and locate your file on the computer you are using. Select it and then click OK and the name of the file should appear in the upload window next to the word "Browse". Then click the "send" button. The page will change and you will be invited to click on the link "homeworks" to see the grades for your submission. Clicking on this link will return you to your Maple homework web page.

• A table of grades should appear next to the submission you send in to mini_submit. If the table does not appear immediately, click the "refresh" button on your browser. Your grades should appear almost instantly on the page. However, if a larger number of students are using mini_submit simultaneously, the response may take a few minutes.

• If there is a major problem with one or more of your problems and eGrader cannot grade them you will receive a message stating that "egrader has had trouble grading your paper". In that event please review the instructions given on the webpage Finding Your Error to try to figure out what is wrong with your worksheet before resubmitting to mini_submit.  It may also happen that only a file name such as submission.1.mws  appears on your homework page after you submit to mini_submit.  This also means that you have a major error in your work, and you need to refer to the page Finding Your Error and examine your file carefully for errors.

• Maple9/9.5/10 users should consult the Using Maple 9/9.5/10 with eGrader and mini_submit for special instructions.
