MGSA Offices
The election of new MGSA officers is coming up soon! Here is information about each position. We need someone to fill each of the following roles:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary-Treasurer
- Social Director.
In addition to the officer positions, two people are needed who are willing to represent the MGSA to the University Graduate Student Association (UGSA):
- UGSA Representative
- Alternate UGSA Representative.
Duties of the Officers
- The President shall call and preside over MGSA meetings and represent MGSA at University and College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences functions. The President shall also nominate representatives to such committees and organizations as considered appropriate and/or necessary. Such nominations will be subject to approval by a majority of MGSA members present at the meeting they are announced.
- The Vice-President shall preside over MGSA meetings at the request or absence of the President and, at the President's request, substitute for the President at University and College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences functions.
- The Secretary-Treasurer shall take and maintain the minutes of MGSA meetings and keep the financial records of MGSA.
- The Social Director shall be responsible for organizing all social functions held by MGSA, including refreshments to accompany MGSA-sponsored lectures.
UGSA Representatives
There will be one representative and one alternate to serve as members of the UGSA Council. The representative and alternate will be nominated by at large nominations and will be approved by a majority vote at an MGSA meeting. The UGSA representative must participate on one UGSA committee per year and must attend the requisite number of monthly UGSA meetings in order for MGSA to receive an annual rebate from the UGSA. The alternate representative will fulfill these duties at the request or absence of the representative.
