Pi Mu Epsilon - Membership Requirements

Membership in Pi Mu Epsilon is by invitation, based on broad guidelines set down by the national office. Unlike some honorary societies, we do not restrict our membership to students in a particular major program. However, one of our guidelines is a "demonstrated interest in mathematics". This is a non-issue for students whose major area is mathematics or mathematics education; for other students we look for some coursework in mathematics above and beyond required courses. This is one of the reasons that the requirements set out below are different for different curricula. Invitations to join are sent out once each semester. The membership fee is $25, which includes the price of a banquet in the spring. Initiations are held each semester, the spring initiation being held in conjunction with the banquet.
