     A concrete introduction to algebra, L. Childs, 2nd ed, Springer-Verlag.

3. Schedule of exams:
     Three hourly in-class tests:  1) H 2/16;  2) H 3/23;  3) H 4/18(Note the new dates!) 

     Final exam:  May 4, Thursday, 1:00-4:00.

4. Grading Policy:
         Tests:65%
         Final Exam: 35%
Attendance is required. No make-up tests are given. If you absent
less than 5 times  (excused ot unexcused), your lowest test score
will be dropped

• 1/20-1/22: Chap 3 GCD, Euclid's algorithm, Bezout's identity, Linear equations. Chap 4, Primes
  
• 1/27-2/2: Chap 5, Congruence mod m, divisibility tests, arithmetics mod m, Chap 6, Congruence classes
  
• 2/7: Chap 8 Rings and Fields, Z/mZ, Homomorphisms
